Coastal Zone Ecosystems
The coastal zone of West Africa is home to many sensitive ecosystems that provide many ecosystem services. Despite their importance, they remain threatened by infrastructure development and uncontrolled urbanization.
In response to this problem, the Reducing Impacts of Infrastructure on Coastal Ecosystems (PRISE) project was initiated in five countries: Senegal, Mauritania, Cape Verde , Guinea-Bissau and Guinea.

Purpose of the PRISE
primarily targets seagrass beds, mangroves and sea turtle nesting beaches

- Advocacy and awareness
- Improving the legal framework
- Support legal framework
- Support for the application of tools and knowledge; and strengthening partnerships.
It is implemented by multi-stakeholder teams (civil society organizations (CSOs), universities, state institutions, NGOs, APPEL1 media)
